Advisory Board
Luc Tissot
Mr. Luc Tissot, Eng. ETHZ, MBA IMD has been President of Tissot Watch Company and member of the SSIH (Omega & Tissot Group) executive committee. Tissot launched the first watch made out of synthetic material, the first watch production plant outside of Switzerland, in Mexico City and later on as the introduction of the electronic watch was leading to the loss of thousand of jobs in Switzerland. He opened the doors of the medical industry to the watchmakers (pacemakers, programmable brain hydrocephalic valve, promoted now by Johnson & Johnson). He launched the Economic Promotion Program of the canton of Neuchatel to attract new foreign companies hiring manpower and qualified personnel to diversify the local industry. Along with this philosophy came the Tissot Economic Foundation, with the motto “profit for human development” to create new companies enhancing local human skills and core competencies. A worldwide network of businessmen and scientists exchanges, information on technologies and markets.
This policy led Tissot to cooperate with scientific institutions and to serve as a member of the executive committee of the Swiss Academy of Engineering and later on to be President of the World Council of Academies of Engineering (CAETS, Washington DC, USA). On the business side, apart of managing his own companies, he participated to various investment groups specialized in company start ups, in Europe and the USA, like the Alta-Berkeley Fund in London, the GIMV in Belgium, Columbine venture capital Fund in Denver, the Woodlands venture-capital Fund and the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC), Woodlands near Houston. The Tissot Economic Foundation and the Tissot Network Group joined forces to promote further the network of businessmen and scientists to create new enterprises for human development. A French-Swiss network of innovative companies is now in process within the Interreg EC program.
