Salma Abbasi spoke on how we can and must co-ordinate a holistic publicprivate
multi stakeholder framework which acts as an ongoing strategy for
engagement, as cyber security is more a dynamic process than a one-time
execution and implementation step. This is especially true given the real-time
evolution of the treats posed to individuals and governments alike. |
The next decade will see the
evolution of many and various
strategies for dealing with
cyber threats, and
governments must work
together in sharing resources,
knowledge and skills in
helping create a sustainable
and viable on and offline
world. e-WWG will continue to
develop strategies and
resources in helping
overcome the challenges
faced by these systemic
issues. |

“With the joint developments of an
increasing number of ‘digital natives’
and the rapid take up of mobile
internet technologies, we’re finding an
ever increasing number of young
vulnerable people online without the
provision of safeguards.” said Salma
Abbasi, Chair and CEO of e-WWG.
Adding, “this complex environment
requires holistic solutions if we are to
create safe and secure environments
for our children to play.” |
e WWG is excited about the increasing resolve of governments in the Muslim
world to help deal with these systemic vulnerabilities, which have proved tragic in
some cases in Western Europe and the USA, through the sexual grooming and
abuse of children online. Social Networking sites such as facebook.com have
been urged to develop a secure and safe online experience for young people
only through the provision of a coordinated and integrated public- private strategy
developed by organizations such as US-CERT. e-WWG is actively working with
partners in creating awareness of these challenges in Islamic countries. |
